SketchUp Material Library Sketchup Materials are collection of texture for your. It is essential paints that have a color. Sketchup Material Library contains different wood texture, wall texture, sand texture and metal texture. On the basis of rating and review all the impassive sketchup material have been enlisted here. One can easily create material from image files like.jpg,.gif using the material browser.

Thea Render Materials Here is a small selection of materials I have created for use with Thea Render. A full library of my materials is available to download from the Thea Render forum. This page provides download links to my collection of Thea Material libraries. Architecture is my personal architectural visualization material library.It currently contains 579 Thea Materials for typical indoor and outdoor scenes.

There are few Sketchup Plugin which already comes with the product like IRender. The different collection of texture in Sketchup Material library has much standard collection of bricks, lava, sky, stars, burn wood, aluminum, walls and much more.

This post is not essentially about any Thea for Rhino skills. Instead, it is a long overdue and yet formal reply to many inquiries from my students. Rhino texture mapping skills are so, so critical to the success of any renderings in Rhino environment. One of the essential concepts a beginner of Rhino texture mapping must grasp is Mapping Widget. A Mapping Widget is a hypothetical and yet editable geometry (see the yellow highlighted box in the image below) Rhino creates to define how 2D texture images are projected and mapped to 3D objects. Rhino introduces different Mapping Widgets, including Planar Surface, Box, Cylinder, and Sphere. Users can imagine that 2D textures are first mapped on these simple Widget geometries and then projected to more complex actual objects in the scene.

Whenever you apply a certain Mapping method, you create a particular type of Mapping Widget. You may make it visible/invisible, change its type, edit its properties, or delete it. Therefore, texture mapping results are decided by three key factors: (1) the type, position, rotation, and dimensions of Mapping Widget; (2) the UV repeats of textures (namely, how many times you prefer to have a texture to repeat itself over a given distance); (3) the original resolution and proportion (aspect ratio) of texture images. The YouTube video tutorial below shows basic texture mapping skills involving the Box Mapping Widget only.
